Blower Door Testing

New Construction? New Home? Do you think your home is losing heat?

Great news! Semcac’s HELP team is now offering Blower Door Tests. If you have new construction, a new home or want to learn about the airflow in your home to make decisions that will help you save energy, we recommend getting a Blower Door Test.

Contact us to perform a Blower Door Test on your new or existing home. The MN residential energy code that took effect in February 2015 requires energy code compliance testing on all new homes. We can provide all the required testing you need to ensure your home is code compliant. Also, check with your local energy company to see if you qualify for a rebate.

WHAT IS IT?

A blower door test utilizes a powerful fan that is mounted to the frame of an exterior door. The fan pulls air out of the house and lowers the pressure inside. Then the auditors can find air leaks. Our professional energy auditors use the test and their gauges to help determine a home’s air pressure tightness and measure air flow.

Establishing proper air seals and air tightness in your home can help you:

  • Reduce your energy consumption due to leakages
  • Avoid moisture condensation issues
  • Avoid drafts
  • Determine what is needed for ventilation

The cost of the test is only $150.00 and is performed by our professionals.blower-test-pic
